Day 2: August 4th

A later start this morning allowed for some much needed rest as breakfast was pushed back to 9am before our players took the field at 10am to train.  Today was a sunny but very windy day outdoors, and cool once again with temperatures in the low 60's.

Cereal and bagels for breakfast, sausages and potatoes for lunch (not quite bangers and mash but the sausages were tasty!), of course with the salad bar and plenty of other veggies and fruits to choose from.  The only problem - none of the staff was familiar with the requests for cream cheese :)

The first round of laundry was collected by the housekeeping staff for us before our early session, and returned to our rooms by the time we finished lunch.

The cafeteria staff has been very accommodating to a few of our players who have dietary needs. I checked in with those kids on the topic today - they seem very happy with the food selections and individual attention to make sure all details are covered.

Our 2nd training session included more scrimmage play to prepare the teams for their first matches scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.  The girls will play Portsmouth at Lancing College (same fields we train on), while the boys will head over to Brighton & Hove Albion's training ground.  The nice part is the kickoff times agree, where the boys can support the girls during their games at 2:30, and vise versa for the boys' games at 5pm.

Updated itinerary for the trip with kickoff times can be found here.  (the boys' kickoff time on 8/5 vs. Brighton should be 17:00 not 19:00 as shown on PDF)

The kids have been split into 4 groups for fun kickball games tonight after dinner with their CMT staff group leaders.  Bedtime at 9:30pm...
