Day 4: August 6th

Thursday was a light day for the kids, considering the training they have put in this week and extended time of the games last night.

We hit the field this morning for a professional group photo at 9am.  Took a while (45 min I think it was) to get everyone set up properly.  65 kids, 6 Seacoast coaches, plus all the CMT staff and Brighton coaches, it was a pretty big group to organize but we managed through it and avoided the rain.

Some of us had a little fun while we were waiting :)

Seems that the weather changes here even more frequently than New England. Sunny to windy to sprinkles, to brisk winds, back to sunny…  Like we say back home “If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change.”  True here as well.

All the Seacoast United staff received a personal tour of the Brighton & Hove Albion training ground/facilities where the boys games were played last night.  Again, very impressive facility.  The three older boys were able to participate in a training session there as well today.

Now for the fun the kids are having related to the differences in words and pronunciation.  Here goes:
Aluminum vs. “Aluminium” (A-loo-min-ee-um)
This is by far the kids’ favorite one to ask the English guys/girls to say over and over again.

Flip Flops vs Slides:  I’m surprised at this one, as flip flops are generally any kind of sandals and slides are the ones with the strap over the top of your foot.  I guess the kids are calling all of them slides which is surprising to all the English staff.
Jacket Potatoes = Baked Potatoes
Bibs = Pinnies
Boots = Cleats
Jumpers = Sweatshirts
Trainers = Sneakers
Mobile = Cell phone

As we hear others throughout the remainder of the trip we will post them, but the kids are having quite a good time with these.

A few pics of the setup in the player's lounge where the kids relax between sessions:

We are up early Friday for a bus trip to Manchester, should be a long route on the road but we will see Old Trafford upon our arrival and stay at Hotel Football overnight after our matches vs. Manchester City.  Busy day tomorrow!
